English I en Français I Oscar Eight films nominated for the SEE THE SOUND music documentary award by SoundTrack_CologneSEE THE SOUND (October 14 – October 18, 2020), the film festival of SoundTrack_Cologne, will once again award the prize for the best music documentary. Eight films have been nominated for the competiton, five of which are celebrating their German premieres, one NRW premiere and one it’s German premiere. The full programme, which contains 26 films and a lecture performance, is attached. The nominees are Lima Grita by Dana Bonilla and Ximena Vakdivia, Underground Inc: The Rise & Fall Of Alternative Rock by Shaun Katz, The Rise Of The Synths by Iván Castell, Keyboards Fantasies: The Beverly Glenn-Copeland Story by Posy Dixon, Everybody's Everything by Ramez Silyan and Sebastian Jones, Vadio - I Am Not A Poet by Stefan Lechner, Oh Les Filles! by Francois Armanet, Music Monks by Qiaoli Wang and Luo Wen. All films will be shown at Turistarama. The German premieres are Oh Les Filles! (FR 2019), a portrait of female rock stars in France and how they have defined French rock since the feminist rebellions of the 70s until today. Music Monks (CN 2019), an emotional journey of love and faith. A story about almost destroyed Chinese music history. Vadio - I Am Not A Poet (PT 2018) shows an attitude to life, a philosophy: the sound of Lisbon. The story of a nostalgic love for Lisbon's fado and an almost forgotten world. The Rise Of The Synths (US 2019) takes the DeLorean on a time travel through the history of the Synthwave. The music style is told as a visual adventure. Keyboard Fantasies: The Beverly Glenn-Copeland Story (US 2019): she was the first black student at McGill University Montréal, he is a role model for the LGBTQI* community and now fills sold-out halls. The documentary Lima Grita (PE 2019), an ecstatic acoustic and visual journey through Lima, has it’s German Cinema Premiere. Underground Inc: The Rise & Fall Of Alternative Rock (AU 2019) is a story from its roots in underground punk of the 80s to its arrival in the mainstream - and its collapse in a world of excess and greed (NRW Premiere). The eighth film Everybody's Everything tells the story of rapper Lil Peep and was one of the highlights SXSW South by Southwest Festival. SEE THE SOUND now offers the opportunity to watch this moving documentary on big screen.
