Vision Films 'Accidental Climber': Hero's Journey to Everest Comes to Streaming Platforms Today

Vision Films moving documentary “Accidental Climber” from filmmaker Steven Oritt (“My Name is Sara,” “American Native”) is streaming globally on Amazon Prime,  Amazon Instant in the United Kingdom, on iTunes in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland; GooglePlay in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden; and Vimeo in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland. This captivating documentary charting the journey of Sacramento, California native, climber Jim Geiger summiting Everest - a grueling endeavor, much less for a 68-year-old who comes face to face with the worst disaster in mountaineering history. Exhilaratingly drawing you in, “Accidental Climber” follows the affable and determined Geiger, a charming protagonist on an incredible journey at its heart is every bit the hero’s journey in modern day that Oscar winning “Free Solo” was with Alex Honnold. Oritt’s new film offers even more of the heart-thumping exploration that audiences have leaned into following the recent “Lost on Everest." We greatly appreciate your interview & review consideration as well as for your what's streaming now coverage!

“Accidental Climber” chronicles the summiting of Mount Everest, known as a grueling and dangerous endeavor for even the most experienced climber. The world’s highest mountain is known to torture the mind, body, and soul of those who dare to do what few have ever achieved. When 68-year-old great grandfather Jim Geiger attempts to become the oldest American to summit the peak, what ensued was the worst disaster in mountaineering history. Geiger who since beginning his epic journey climbing over 35 years ago at the age of 40 has now ascended more than 14 mountains over 6500 feet on the west coast alone, including Mount Whitney and Mount Shasta more than 22 times and Pyramid Peak in the Sierras in CA (approximately 10,000 feet in elevation) more than 100 times.

Directed by Steven Oritt, produced by Corey Bobker (“American Native,” “The Millionaire Matchmaker”), John Nguyen (“Blackbird,” “Soul Plane”), and Erit Yellen (“Odessa Gold: The Story of Lenny Krayzelburg”), edited by Khalil Anderson  (“Turnt,” “North VR”) and Zeke Piestrup (“Downhill: The Bill Johnson Story,” “Apocalypse Later: Harold Camping vs The End of the World”) with cinematography by Oritt and Thom Pollard, and original music by Waz-Jackson (“The Village,” “Cougar Town”), “Accidental Climber”  carries you along this incredible journey on the back of Geiger, whom by the end you could count as family or a friend.

Audiences will be able to rent or purchase the film on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Vudu, Vimeo, FandangoNOW, YouTube, Microsoft/XBox; cable providers DirecTV, Comcast, Cox, Spectrum, Charter, Verizon Fios, Frontier, Suddenlink, Mediacom, Century Link, Google Fiber, Dish, Telus; and online DVD purchases through Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, and numerous other retailers.
